CERTIFICATIONSCertification in the field of Construction Materials Testing as Senior Engineering Technician (S.E.T.) by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies as sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Certification in accordance with BHATE Written Practice and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) SNT-TC-1A guidelines as NDT Level III in radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and visual testing (VT). NDT Instructor and Principal NDT Level III for methods certified.
Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration in the Application of the Eastern Region Laboratory Procedures Manual conducted by the Eastern Region Airports Division, Safety, & Standards Branch.
Certification by the Roof Consultants Institute based on education, experience, and examination as a Registered Roof Observer (R.R.O.), Types One (Built-Up Roof Systems) and Two (Single Ply Roof Systems).
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Thirty years experience in the providing and management of materials testing and inspection services including, but not limited to: nondestructive testing and inspection of tubular structures and dynamically and statically loaded structural steel; F-Number measurement of concrete slabs; structural mapping and asset management with ground-penetrating radar; inspection and testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, building acoustics, timber, masonry, cladding, and building products; failure analysis; chemical analysis; metallurgical analysis; and petrographic analysis.
- Develops and administers training, qualification, and certification programs in accordance with ASTM, ACI, ASNT, NICET, and applicable project requirements.
- Coordinates tests and inspections in accordance with the requirements of standards-writing agencies including: ASTM, AASHTO, Corps of Engineers, ACI, AWS, ASME, AISC, MIL. SPEC., BUREC, FAA, ANSI, NACE, NAVSHIPS, AWWA, SSPC, MIA, UL, UBC, SAE, API, and AREA.
- Reviews plans and specifications for completeness and accuracy, and make recommendations to resolve technical conflicts.
- Provides inspection, testing and forensic investigation services to various types of clients, including attorneys, architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, insurance companies, building owners, and governmental agencies. Consulting services have been provided for problems relating to materials, specifications, construction, prefabrication, maintenance, restoration, demolition, testing, and research.
- Compiles and manages Quality Assurance Manual, Hazard Communication Program, Written Practice for Qualification and Certification of Personnel, and Nondestructive Examination Procedure Manual.
- Serves as Corporate Radiation Safety Officer which includes: administering Radioactive Material Licenses; conducting safety training seminars; and regulating compliance of radioactive material handling, storage, transportation, and replenishment in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission, state, and corporate requirements.
- Provides testing, inspection, management, and investigation for a wide variety of projects including: airports, tunnels, bridges, petrochemical/manufacturing/industrial plants, high rises, dams, commercial and governmental office buildings, hotel/motel, sanitary and waste water treatment facilities, hospitals, schools, shopping malls, and nuclear/fossil electric generating stations. Projects range in size to $2.1 billion.

One of the many challenges this project faced was the foundation, which had to be extended underneath the existing wall of the historic Alabama Theater. Bhate Engineering performed all geotechnical evaluations and construction materials testing, including concrete, precast inspection, reinforcing steel inspection, caisson inspection, and structural steel examinations.
