The following is a list of roof consulting questions that BHATE Engineering Corporation roof professionals answer everyday from people just like yourself.
Why
do I need BHATE when I can easily get roofing bids from contractors?
When you call in contractors to get bids, what is their motivation? TO GET THE JOB! With this as their primary goal, is it reasonable for you to assume that they will recommend a roof system that is best suited to satisfy you needs?
Contractors will submit "solutions" which will be like comparing apples to tomatoes to oranges. How will you know which solution is really best suited for your needs? BHATE staff will ask you for your goals and budget and then design a roof to best suit your needs.
Can
you save us money, or will you cost us more money?
Our clients answer this question best. When asked to compare the long term performance of our roofs against what they have been doing in the past, our clients acknowledge that roofing projects we designed and managed have saved them money.
How
do you select contractors?
CAREFULLY!! This is about the most difficult task we have. Contractors management changes, business objectives change and new contractors arrive on the scene. So we evaluate contractors on a continual basis, to be assured that they are still performing at the highest level.
What
will a Roof Consultant do for me?
The answer to this question is directly related to the size and critical nature of your roofing project which often make or break a project. The experienced BHATE staff will handle any size roofing project from concept to completion, with minimum client involvement.
What
has been your track record with roofs that you have designed and monitored?
VERY POSITIVE! Just ask our clients. This must be why we get repeat business from our clients, and why 95% of our new business is from referrals.
How
do I select the right Roof Consultant?
Your Roof Consultant should have specific experience with your type of project, and proven knowledge of the roof systems you are considering for use. Ask for references of projects completed and individual clients' names to support their experience. Your Roof Consultant should be an active member in the roofing industry, and a member of the Roof Consultants Institute. Preferably, the Technical Field Staff should all be Registered Roof Observers. These are the most widely accepted credentials available in the roofing industry.
Is
my roofing project large enough to justify using a Roof Consultant?
Generally, most commercial roofing projects are large enough to justify the involvement of a BHATE Roof Consultant. Often we find that smaller projects have several critical components or conditions which need special attention. These might include a smaller roof with numerous radio or satellite antennas; a roof over telephone switching equipment; a roof of a school when school must be in session during the reroofing project.
Can
I justify the cost of a Roofing Consultant?
The cost of Roof Consultant is easily justified through longer lasting and trouble free service of the new roof system.
By proper planning and execution of a roofing project, all reasonable costs for design and application quality control services provided by a BHATE consultant will result in a significant return on your investment.
Can't
I perform the services of a Roof Consultant?
Some of our clients have the the knowledge and experience to handle all the details of a roofing project, but they just don't have the time. While others know that, with the changes in materials, wind design criteria, and building codes, it would require a major effort to properly research their planned roofing project.
